How to Unlock Traits in +1 Forge Blade Loot

Forge with the right ores to unlock Traits in +1 Forge Blade Loot. Confirmed steps, what the unlock costs, how to check it worked, and what not to expect.

Traits in +1 Forge Blade Loot are unlocked at the forge, not in a menu. The confirmed action: place an ore whose tooltip states an unlock effect into the forge's material slots — the Fishman scale reads "Increases power. Unlocks traits" — and complete the forge. The effect then shows up on the finished weapon's stat card. No level gate, coin price or rarity requirement is displayed for the unlock itself, and the game shows no way to reroll traits: the only reroll system visible anywhere is race rerolling.

Where trait unlocks happen: the forge material screen

Forging uses the items you collect as materials — "with the items you collect, you can also forge." Every ore in the material-selection screen displays its own modifiers, so, as one player puts it, "you can actually see what each ore does." The list runs from weakest to strongest and can be sorted by rarity or by multiplier.

Most modifiers are straight boosts: increases power (readouts of +7,000, +6,500 and +5,000 appear), improves weapon quality or stats, grants an extra rune slot, grants extra attributes. A few ores go further and state an actual unlock. Two trait unlocks are confirmed from tooltips as read in-game:

MaterialUnlock line on its tooltip
Fishman scale"Increases power. Unlocks traits."
Dragon scale"Grants two extra attributes" — and, as the player reads it, "it unlocks ice attributes"

Not every ore unlocks something, so read the tooltip before committing. Sorting by multiplier is the quickest way to surface which materials are worth the slots.

Get the unlock ores first

Ores are loot, so trait unlocks run through the normal loop: click to train for power, feed that power into the forge, and use your improved sword to win better monster loot. As one guide puts it: "Clicking to train is the only way to gain power… a better sword is what brings back the rare loot from monster fights" — and that rare loot is where materials like the Fishman scale come from. The how to get rare loot guide speeds up restocking.

One gap worth knowing: nothing documented says which monsters drop trait-unlock ores or how often, so tooltip-check whatever your own inventory holds rather than farming a guessed target.

Unlocking a trait, step by step

  1. Open the forge and its material-selection screen.
  2. Sort by rarity or multiplier and scan tooltips for an "unlocks" line — for example, the Fishman scale's "Unlocks traits."
  3. Commit that ore, then fill the remaining slots with your strongest power ores. In one demonstrated run, the player earmarked three dragon scales, then added two of one ore, two more of another, and all four of a third. "The more ores, the better, usually" — but slots are finite: "I can't put anything else."
  4. Draw the blade's shape and strike it. Draw as straight as you can, because a crooked shape "will end up crooked." The finished sword rolls a quality tier: common, rare, epic, legendary, secret or mythical.
  5. Open the new sword's stat card and check the attribute lines (next section).

The same ore-modifier system applies to shields — "same thing I did with the sword, I'll do it now with the shield" — so the route works for both gear types. The sword forging guide covers the forge itself in more depth.

How to confirm the trait unlocked

The unlock lands on the gear itself. The demonstrated sword's stat card showed "the power, attack speed, and it even has attributes. Not to mention the critical here that appeared." Even a common shield carried attribute lines — "Critical attack" and "More critical" — plus "You can also add an attribute."

That stat card is your confirmation point. The game's shown screens include no separate Traits menu and no "trait unlocked" popup, and its own text uses "traits" and "attributes" loosely for these modifier lines. So judge success by the attribute lines on your new weapon or shield rather than waiting for a notification.

Traits can't be rerolled — races can

Two different systems with different rules:

  • Traits and attributes are fixed modifiers that come from the ores you forge with. No roll, reroll button or reroll price is shown for them anywhere in the game.
  • Races are the rollable system. The race reroll screen has 2 slots, the first roll is free, and duplicate races add stars. Further rolls cost Robux — one player paid "3 times 208 Robux" and called it "a very expensive roll." Results include Warrior, Zap, Mantis (20% movement speed, 25 luck) and Falcon (50% luck).

If you see a reroll cost quoted for traits somewhere, that's the race system being mixed up with them. There is no trait reroll to save Robux for.

Where this fits in progression

The game's own listing puts traits on the core loop — "Click to Train to Gain Power ⚒️ Shape & Forge Your Own Sword! ⚔️ Slay Monsters for Rare Loots ✨ Unlock Powerful Skills & Traits" — and a third-party guide agrees: "Skills and traits sit on that same path. They are unlocked as you keep going." In practice that means the unlock ores come to you as you play: train power, forge, and farm loot, with each better sword pulling in rarer materials. The progression guide maps the whole loop, and how to unlock skills covers the other half of that listing promise.
